SAN CLEMENTE
The City Council unanimously approved using eminent domain to acquire easements along Avenida Pico, between Calle de Industrias and Interstate 5, to widen the road and freeway ramps. After no one spoke out on the issue at last week’s public hearing, the council approved the resolution to allow the city to purchase the land at market value. M. Akram Hindiyeh, senior civil engineer for the city, said the city will negotiate for a settlement with the property owners while the land is being appraised.
