Foul weather claimed a second life in the San Fernando Valley this week as a Reseda youth died from injuries suffered when his older brother drove through a puddle and lost control of their car, authorities said Thursday.

Rajdeep Singh, 17, was in the passenger seat of a Toyota driven by his brother, 19-year-old Tajinder, on Victory Boulevard near Mason Avenue in Woodland Hills about 1:55 p.m. Wednesday, said Officer Jason Lee, an LAPD spokesman.

Their westbound vehicle hit a puddle of rainwater, then crossed the double yellow line and collided with a BMW, Lee said.

Rajdeep Singh was taken to Northridge Hospital Medical Center, where he died at about 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, Lee said. His brother, who suffered injuries described as moderate, was taken to Kaiser Permanente Medical Center.

On Monday, a 20-year-old Chatsworth newlywed died after her 21-year-old husband lost control of their car on the Ronald Reagan Freeway in Pacoima. His view of the roadway was obscured when an oncoming vehicle splashed the windshield of their car, the California Highway Patrol said.
