The Orange County coroner’s office on Friday identified the victim of a fatal crash in Orange as James Anthony Hall, 19, of Orange.

Hall died Wednesday when his 1969 Ford Mustang exploded into flames after it was hit by another car on Santiago Canyon Road near Kennymead Street about 12:15 p.m.

Hall, who was driving west on Santiago Canyon Road, lost control of the car, possibly because of the heavy rain, and skidded across the center divider. An oncoming sedan hit the right rear of the Mustang as it cut across the lanes, causing the Mustang’s gas tank to catch fire, Orange Police Capt. Art Romo said.

The drivers of three other cars involved in the accident were taken to a hospital with moderate injuries, Romo said.
