The Orange County Sheriff’s Department has nominated Bob Peterson as deputy of the year.
Peterson will receive the honor and a plaque at the Jan. 18 City Council meeting, Sgt. Gus de la Torre said.
In 1999, Peterson made more than 700 misdemeanor arrests and 55 felony arrests. He has the highest number of arrests in South County operations, De La Torre said.
Peterson said that although the award is a compliment, it really reflects the teamwork of the entire organization and everyone behind the scenes, including his family.
“It’s kind of neat that my wife and kids can see the reason that I miss a piano recital or baseball practice,” Peterson said.
