Familiar Faces in the Starting Lineup

Share

The Bruin rotation remains inconsistent, but Coach Steve Lavin has at least made a move for stability in the starting lineup.

UCLA has had the same starters in six consecutive games. That hasn’t happened since Kris Johnson, Toby Bailey, J.R. Henderson, Baron Davis and Earl Watson were together for seven in a row at the end of the 1997-98 season, a streak that ended only because Davis hurt his knee and missed what became the final game of the season, the tournament loss to Kentucky.

The current group is Watson, Ray Young, Jason Kapono, Jerome Moiso and Dan Gadzuric. Three others have started, but none since Dec. 11 against Gonzaga.

The Bruins used 22 different starting lineups in 31 games and didn’t have the same one twice in a row any time after late January. No combination was used more than six times.
