The balanced Sunset League opens Thursday. Most intriguing is No. 8 Edison hosting No. 9 Marina. The Chargers (12-2-1) finished fifth in last week’s Excalibur tournament, winning two games on penalty kicks. Marina (10-5-2) is coming off a grueling stretch of playing nine games in 11 days. After losing to No. 2 Capistrano Valley (10-1) in the second round of Excalibur, the Vikings won their next two games before falling to No. 6 San Clemente.

In the other two Sunset games, No. 7 Esperanza (7-4-1) will travel to Los Alamitos and Fountain Valley is at Huntington Beach.
