City officials said Tuesday they are moving swiftly to begin work on the 18-hole golf course planned at the base of the Chino foothills.
The City Council is expected to authorize the Public Works Department this month to solicit bids from contractors to build the Black Gold Golf Course, so named because of the presence of some old oil wells on the property.
The city expects to start work on the course in mid-March or early April, said Steve Rudometkin, director of parks and recreation. The estimated cost of the course’s initial construction--which includes shaping, irrigation and landscaping--is about $5.5 million.
