Deputy Accused of Molestation

Prosecutors have charged a Los Angeles County sheriff’s deputy with felony child molestation, a department spokeswoman said Tuesday.

Deputy Douglas Mills of the sheriff’s Lancaster station has been ordered to appear in Los Angeles Municipal Court on Tuesday to answer charges brought after a six-month internal investigation, Sheriff’s Sgt. Irma Becerra said.

Mills, who has been relieved from duty with pay but has not yet been arrested, faces two counts of lewd conduct with a child under the age of 14 and one count of making terrorist threats, Becerra said.

Becerra would not release further details about the nature of the offenses or the investigation.
