New York Met General Manager Steve Phillips doesn’t want to pay Bobby Bonilla $5.9 million to sit on the bench next season. Instead he agrees to pay $1.19 million a year for 25 years beginning in 2011 for Bobby Bo not to be a Met in 2000.
Hey, Steve--I promise not to be a Met in 2000 either. My son vows not to try out for the Mets. My daughter swears she won’t watch a single Mets game on TV. My wife asks “Who is Bobby Bonilla, anyway?” Let’s talk. I figure we’re set for life.
