MISSION VIEJO
Legacy Partners Construction goes before the Planning Commission tonight with a proposal to build an 8-foot-high sound wall and landscaping at the site of a former patch of eucalyptus.
Residents of Via Grande and Mallorca were upset with the company after it bulldozed the trees in October as part of a project to build two multilevel office buildings between the homes and Interstate 5. The stretch of eucalyptus had been in the neighborhood for 25 years and blocked the noise and views of the freeway from nearby homes. Legacy’s plan calls for the wall to be set back from Via Grande to provide room for a 4-foot-wide sidewalk and a 4-foot-wide strip of landscaping. The commission meets at 7 p.m. at City Hall, 25909 Pala.
