The Big 12 Conference on Sunday night suspended referee Charles Range for the rest of the season after a controversial final basket at the buzzer was counted and gave Texas A&M; an 88-86 victory over Texas Tech on Saturday night at Lubbock. Big 12 Commissioner Kevin Weiberg said Saturday’s score will stand, however, after a confusing 45 minutes in which the basket was counted, not counted and counted again to give the Aggies the win. Weiberg said Range failed to follow protocol that requires both coaches are present for the discussion of a controversial call. Texas Tech Coach James Dickey said it was clear to him that the basket should not have counted.
