Moss Had a Watered-Down Effort

Minnesota’s Randy Moss led all receivers with 188 yards in nine catches, and still that wasn’t enough for him.

In the fourth quarter with the outcome of the game having been decided, Moss tried to complain to an official that he had been tripped, preventing him from catching a pass.

The official ignored him, walking up the sideline while Moss took himself out of the game. Moss also took a water bottle and then squirted the official in the back, quickly darting behind some of his teammates to avoid punishment.

The official threw his flag and the Viking “bench” was penalized 15 yards for unsportsmanlike conduct.

Moss said later that he was frustrated because the official would not pay him any attention.

Running back Marshall Faulk was traded from Indianapolis to St. Louis after last season for second- and fifth-round picks.

The Colts lost Sunday, and the Rams are one win away from the Super Bowl.

“In business,” Faulk said, “all things are possible.”

Minnesota quarterback Jeff George threw for 424 yards and four touchdowns, but did not have one of his better games.

“He was definitely scared of us,” Ram safety Billy Jenkins said. “We just stepped it up and that got him rattled. We had no jitters at all because we’re not afraid of any team.”

George saw the game differently.

“We were right with them and they had that kickoff return for a touchdown,” George said. “The thing that makes that team special is its special teams.”
