* How they got here: Tampa Bay defeated Washington, 14-13, and St. Louis defeated Minnesota, 49-37, in divisional playoff games.

* 1999 meetings: Did not play. The teams last met in 1994, with Tampa Bay winning, 24-14. The Rams lead the all-time series, 8-3.

* About Tampa Bay: Tampa Bay ranked first in the NFC in pass defense, and will face quite a test in the Ram offense. “For us to win, we’re going to have to slow them down,” Coach Tony Dungy said. “I don’t think we’ll be able to win an 80-point game like they had today. No question, we’re going to have to play our best defensive game of the year because this is an explosive offense, a unit that’s used to scoring points. But we’ve played teams like that this year.”

* About St. Louis: The Rams proved how powerful their offense is Sunday in the win over Minnesota. “I don’t think anybody can stop this offense,” quarterback Kurt Warner said. “I haven’t seen a defense do it so far.” The Rams ranked first in pass offense and total offense this season, and seem unstoppable. Another factor working in their favor: the fans. “It was unbelievably loud,” receiver Az-Zahir Hakim said about Sunday’s crowd. “My ears are still ringing.”
