LA HABRA
Lynton Hurdle, who unsuccessfully ran for a City Council seat two years, withdrew his application Monday to fill a seat left by former Mayor Juan Garcia who resigned in December.
Hurdle, a three-year resident, cited obligations with business and college. There are now 13 candidates interested in the job.
Hurdle, who is completing his first year of law school at the Western State University of Law in Fullerton, has served as a former La Habra traffic commissioner.
At Tuesday’s council meeting, officials said they plan to choose an interim councilmember by month’s end.
