LAGUNA BEACH
The city is preparing to have a new storm drain placed at 1900 Laguna Canyon Road to make way for a consolidated city maintenance yard.
The contract for $194,000 project was awarded to Topline Construction. Work is to begin within a month, and, depending on weather, it could be completed in March or April, said City Manager Kenneth C. Frank.
“It has to be done by the end of June because the area will be used for a parking lot for the Pageant of the Masters,” Frank said.
The city bought the property from the Irvine Co. about five years ago to consolidate its two maintenance yards on the site.
The storm drain will be placed in a gully that runs along the property, which has eroded during the rainy season.
