Body Identified as El Monte Man
The body found in the trunk of a burning car off Laguna Canyon Road has been identified as a 20-year-old student from El Monte, authorities said Wednesday.
Yychen Eric Liu, a student at Rio Hondo Junior College in Whittier, left his home about 11 a.m. Monday, Irvine Police Sgt. Robert Richardson said. His charred body was found less than three hours later in the trunk of his gray Honda Accord, on fire in a remote area of Irvine.
Richardson said police have few clues but are looking for a white mid-size car seen in the area between 11 a.m. and 2:25 p.m. Monday.
