A La Puente man wanted for one murder and implicated in two others was arrested at an Arcadia motel Friday night after a tip from a viewer who recognized him on a recent segment of “America’s Most Wanted,” police said.

Arthur Torres, 24, surrendered to deputies without incident at about 8 p.m. at the Extended Stay America motel on Santa Clara Street in Arcadia. He was taken to the Temple City sheriff’s station on a no-bail warrant for the May 12 slaying of Beto Salas, whose body was found in the City of Industry, said Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Deputy Steve Flamm. Deputies also recovered a handgun, he said.

Torres is suspected of kidnapping Salas and an unidentified woman, and forcing her to drive them up Turnbull Canyon Road, where he killed the man and pushed his body into the canyon below, Flamm said.

Torres also faces kidnapping and mayhem charges in connection with the slaying of Salas, whose eyes were gouged out before his death, Flamm said, adding that he was unaware of the motive or whether Torres knew the victim.

Details of the other murders were not available, Flamm said.
