Pepperdine Beats Irvine in Volleyball
Pepperdine rallied from a two-game deficit and defeated UC Irvine, 11-15, 13-15, 15-12, 15-7, 15-7, in a Mountain Pacific Sports Federation men’s volleyball match Saturday at Pepperdine.
Steve Cavella had 16 kills, Ty Loomis had 14 kills, seven blocks and six digs and Josh Richardson had 10 blocks for Irvine (4-5, 1-3).
Andre Breuer had 27 kills and Scott Wong had 26 kills and 11 digs for Pepperdine (4-0, 2-0).
At the UC Irvine men’s tennis quad:
UC Irvine 6, Loyola Marymount 1--Oliver Schweizer won his match, 6-4, 7-6, to improve to 3-0 this season and lead host UC Irvine.
In nonconference women’s tennis:
Hawaii 6, CS Fullerton 1--Eleanor Luzano won, 6-3, 4-6, 7-6, and the doubles team of Amanda Oldridge and Michelle Arndt won, 9-8, for host Fullerton.
