SOUTHLAND
Weber State 113, Cal State Northridge 92--More than the Big Sky Conference basketball race heated up this weekend, as far as Cal State Northridge is concerned.
Northridge remained in the thick of things, despite a loss to Weber State before 4,428 at Dee Events Center at Ogden, Utah. But the Matadors (13-6, 5-3) left the arena hot, having squandered a first-half lead and blown a chance to move into sole possession of first place.
A second half that began with Northridge ahead, 40-37, shifted dramatically in favor of the Wildcats, who launched a 21-7 run and spent more time at the foul line than the Matadors.
Harold Arceneaux returned from a sprained ankle to score a game-high 36 points for Weber State (13-6, 5-3).
Brian Heinle scored a career-high 34 points for Northridge before fouling out.
