Man Dies in Pool Accident
A 38-year-old Buena Park man apparently drowned Friday night while splashing with his 5-year-old daughter in a pool at their apartment complex, authorities said.
Nickey Pathak could not swim but somehow strayed into the deep end of the pool at the apartment complex on Oleander Circle, Buena Park Police Sgt. Rich Forsyth said.
“While he was struggling to swim, his daughter got out of the pool and ran for help,” Forsyth said. Another resident of the complex pulled Pathak from the water.
Police officers who responded to the 5:41 p.m. call began cardiopulmonary resuscitation, Forsyth said. Paramedics who arrived a few minutes later continued the rescue effort while they transported the man to Western Medical Center-Anaheim.
The man was later pronounced dead at the hospital, Forsyth said.
