Carwash Worker Is Sought After Vehicle Pins Customer

Police are searching for an employee of a Newport Beach carwash after he allegedly struck a customer with the customer’s own car and pinned another customer against a wall.
Silvestre Lopez Hernandez may face felony hit-and-run charges after fleeing on foot from the Car Spa on West Coast Highway on Saturday afternoon, police said.
Shortly after 4 p.m., the 24-year-old Costa Mesa man allegedly hit Tom Casulas, 51, of Huntington Beach with his 1994 Mercedes Benz sedan, injuring him slightly and pinning Sharon Evelyn Marshall, 47, of Santa Ana against a wall. He also collided with a pickup truck.
The two were waiting for their cars to be dried when the crash occurred. The accident is under investigation, said Lt. Andy Gonis.
Marshall underwent surgery Saturday night for broken bones in her lower body.
She was in stable condition Sunday in the critical care unit of Western Medical Center-Santa Ana, said Leslie Dormann, a hospital spokesperson. Casulas was treated for lacerations and released Saturday night.
