The California Department of Fish and Game is investigating allegations that the city has disturbed the Lower Rosan Ranch property, according to Patrol Capt. Jerry Spansail.

The No Home Depot Committee has claimed that the city has removed trees and continued to pile dirt in the area after it was ordered to stop four years ago.

In 1996, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers determined that the city had disturbed about 1.9 acres of wetlands on Lower Rosan Ranch.

The Department of Fish and Game began the investigation in response to the committee’s allegations that the city violated more federal wetlands regulations than cited at that time.

The committee has been fighting the prospect of Home Depot buying the 13-acre parcel west of Camino Capistrano and north of Stonehill Drive.
