Braswell’s Contract Extended

Share

Bobby Braswell has agreed to a four-year contract extension as Cal State Northridge men’s basketball coach, with a $100,116 base salary, plus $38,000 a year from outside sources.

Braswell, 37, has a 65-53 record in four years as coach. The Matadors have recorded consecutive winning seasons for the first time since moving to NCAA Division I beginning in the 1990-91 season.

“I’m very happy and very committed,” Braswell said.

Included in the contract is a rollover provision that will add another year to the contract each season unless Braswell or the school raises a written objection. There also is a buyout provision.

Braswell was a candidate for coaching jobs at Oregon and Oregon State. Northridge returns four starters from a 20-10 team that lost to Northern Arizona last season in the Big Sky tournament championship game. This will be Northridge’s final season in the Big Sky before it moves to the Big West Conference.

Braswell is close to hiring an assistant coach to replace Andre Chevalier, who resigned. Shon Tarver, former UCLA guard, is the top candidate.
