SAG to Confront Woods on Commercial

The Screen Actors Guild plans to call Tiger Woods before a trial board where “he will be asked to explain his actions,” SAG President William Daniels said. The decision came one day after Woods traveled to Canada to complete a commercial for Buick. The spot was the first that Woods had shot since SAG and the American Federation of Radio and Television Artists went on strike May 1 in a pay dispute. Union members “will need to redouble their efforts in the coming weeks to repair the damage resulting from his decision,” Daniels said. SAG alleges that Woods “violated rule No. 1 of the current commercial strike by accepting nonunion work.” Woods, in a statement released by his business agent, defended his decision: “It was an extremely tough situation, but I have relationships to uphold with my sponsors who have supported me over the years. This is in no way a stance against the union.”
