Fireside Concerts, an occasional series produced by Bob Kroll and John Donn, will return Friday for an installment at Borchard Community Center in Newbury Park. The adults-only series offers an alcohol- and smoke-free venue, featuring a schedule of mostly nonprofessional singers, songwriters and instrumentalists. Many of the musicians perform their own works, plus draw from the deep pool of traditional and contemporary songs from the folk, blues and ballad genres. This week’s lineup: Tom Scott (pop/rock), Cross Over Junction (bluegrass), Jest for Pfun (barbershop quartet) and Jim St. Ours (guitarist).

* Fireside Concerts series, Friday, 8 p.m., Borchard Community Center, 190 Reino Road, Newbury Park. Adults only. $5. 381-2791.

Ventura Master Chorale will perform its “Music for the Western Wynde Tour of California” program Sunday at San Buenaventura Mission in downtown Ventura. The concert--which will include the premiere of a new, short work by composer Miguel del Aguila--will serve as a bon voyage before the chorale leaves on a Northern California concert tour.
