The Rockers held the Sacramento Monarchs scoreless over the final 5:23 to rally for an 81-70 victory Monday night at Cleveland.

Rushia Brown, who had a key steal and layup, scored six points during the closing 18-2 run. The victory ended a two-game losing streak for Cleveland (6-3) and ended a four-game win streak for Sacramento (5-4).

Eva Nemcova led Cleveland with 21 points, but reserves Brown, Mery Andrade and rookie point guard Helen Darling spurred the turnaround over the final five minutes. Brown finished with 12 points. The Monarchs did not score over the final 5:23 after Tangela Smith’s drive gave Sacramento a 70-65 lead.

The Monarchs’ swarming defense at the start of the second half had helped turn an 11-point deficit into a five-point lead.

Washington 80, Detroit 55--Vicky Bullett had season highs of 22 points and eight rebounds as the Mystics won at Washington.

Chamique Holdsclaw added 17 points for the Mystics (5-3). The Shock (4-5), which scored a league-record 66 points in the second half of a 111-74 victory over Indiana Sunday, never got its offense going Monday and appeared tired at times.
