A month after their first choice of location for a skate park was shot down by the school district, city officials have now identified Valley View Sports Park as a possible spot.

The city was forced to look at alternate sites after the Placentia-Yorba Linda Unified School District refused to sell its property behind City Hall until its lawsuit against the city’s Redevelopment Agency is settled.

The suit says the agency has underpaid the school district by more than $10 million over several years. City officials have maintained that the lawsuit has no merit.

Valley View Sports Park, west of Yorba Linda Boulevard on Valley View Avenue, can easily accommodate a skate park, said Steve Rudometkin, Parks and Recreation director.

“It already has other facilities like softball and baseball fields,” he said. “It has restrooms and a concession stand as well.”
