Pena still is recuperating from a knee injury and Elliott is with the New Zealand national team competing in the Oceania Nations Cup in Tahiti. The Fire, which leads the Central Division and has the second-best overall record in the league, is without two of its leading players, defender Lubos Kubik and midfielder Hristo Stoitchkov. Both are out for the rest of the regular season because of knee and groin injuries, respectively. Former UCLA forward Ante Razov leads the Fire with 11 goals. Midfielder Peter Nowak has a team-high nine assists. Chicago is 2-5-1 on the road. The Galaxy is 5-1-3 at the Rose Bowl.
