Bulldozer Falls Off Truck Onto Freeway

A 70-ton bulldozer fell off a tractor-trailer onto southbound lanes of the Golden State Freeway on Monday, causing a four-mile backup while authorities worked to remove the vehicle.

No one was hurt in the accident that occurred about 11:10 p.m. at Lyons Avenue, said California Highway Patrol Officer Richard Perez. But traffic was snarled for hours as the CHP diverted traffic onto surface streets.

The bulldozer fell onto the freeway after it struck an overpass, CHP officials said.
