A 200-foot stretch of shoreline in Capistrano Beach County Park was closed to swimming late Monday afternoon as a result of a sewage spill that raised bacteria levels in the water, according to the Orange County Health Care Agency.

It is the ninth such closure in Dana Point this year.

The beach will remain closed until bacteria levels drop to acceptable standards, according to the agency.

The spill was a result of a blocked sewer line. Details on where the spill originated and who was responsible were not immediately available.
