Rare Clipper Win Deserves a Little More

Share

I was extremely disappointed in the coverage of the Clippers’ victory over the Atlanta Hawks at Staples Center on Feb. 26. It was obvious most of the article--an analysis of the Clippers’ problems via an interview with Troy Hudson--was already in the can.

There was not a mention of one of the most exciting last-minute defensive stands I have seen in many years of watching basketball. The crowd went nuts, including my daughter, who was watching her first pro basketball game.

“I can’t watch,” she said. “I want them to win.”

How can you tell a kid the Clippers hardly ever win? She had already made me stop booing Maurice Taylor. Then it came down to the final seconds.

“My stomach hurts,” she said. “I don’t want to lose.”

At last, neither did the Clippers.
