Northridge Loses Its Shirt in Nevada, 12-10

Adrian Mendoza had two hits, including a home run, but Nevada routed Cal State Northridge, 19-10, Friday in a nonconference baseball game at Reno.

Alex Rangel had four hits for the Wolf Pack, which broke a scoreless tie by scoring 12 runs in the fourth inning.

Pierce 9, Oxnard 2--Traviss Hodge doubled twice and finished with three hits and three runs batted in, and Kris Dominique had three hits for the Brahmas (7-5, 3-1) in a Western State Conference interdivision victory at Pierce.

Left-hander Doug Slayton (3-1) pitched eight innings, gave up nine hits, one earned run and one walk and struck out five.

Ventura 9, Canyons 5--Chris Morse and Matt Alonzo each had two hits and the Pirates won a WSC interdivision game at Canyons.

Alonzo hit a two-run home run to give Ventura a 5-4 lead in the sixth inning.

MEN’S SWIMMING

Pierce 62, Citrus 40; Pierce 77, Rio Hondo 12--Kevin Fitzpatrick and Bennett Bier each won two events and swam on the victorious 400 medley relay team for the Brahmas in a WSC meet at Citrus College.

This is the first time Coach Fred Shaw has had a 4-0 record in his eight seasons at Pierce.

Ventura 75, Cuesta 38; Ventura 90, Chaffey 24--Ryan Fisher, Zach Shuler and Kyle Powers each won two events for the Piraces in a WSC meet at Ventura.

WOMEN’S SWIMMING

Ventura 63, Cuesta 50; Ventura 95, Chaffey 11--Brianne Fowler won the 50 freestyle in 25.88 and the 100 freestyle in 55.86 for the Pirates in a WSC victory at Ventura.

Rebecca Gilman won the 1,000 freestyle in 10:40.81 and the 100 breaststroke in 1:15.01 for Ventura (3-0).

SOFTBALL

Moorpark 10, Santa Monica 2--Cory Fredette and Casey Georgeson each had two hits for the Raiders (8-10, 4-2) in a WSC interdivisional game that was called after six innings because of the eight-run rule at Moorpark.
