Rison Settles With Store in Theft Case

Kansas City Chief receiver Andre Rison has settled a dispute with a music store and is seeking an agreement that would dismiss a theft charge against him.

Rison’s attorney told the Johnson County district attorney’s office that he would apply for a diversion agreement, which dismisses the charges against a defendant if restitution is paid. Rison has given the store a $1,053 check.

New Orleans running back Ricky Williams has apologized for critical comments he made about the city and the Saints in a Sports Illustrated article last week. Williams said he did not like living in New Orleans and suggested that the Saints move to San Antonio. “I wasn’t trying to slam the Saints,” Williams said. “A couple of bad experiences I had with the Saints and the city kind of soured me last year. . . . Being young and immature and not grown up yet, sometimes I’m very fickle.”

New York Jet Coach Al Groh said in a statement that the team is no longer considering dealing receiver Keyshawn Johnson. Groh also said the team isn’t prepared to renegotiate Johnson’s contract, which has two years remaining at less than $2 million a season.
