SAN JUAN CAPISTRANO
California Department of Transportation administrators met this week with city staff to discuss a landscaping project on Ortega Highway.
Ken Nelson, acting district director of the department, agreed to address the city’s concerns with the project.
In April, Mayor Collene Campbell wrote a letter to the department complaining about the project, citing a lack of trees and vines that the city requested, erosion at the bottom of the slope and poor maintenance.
The project was completed in March. Nelson is scheduled to meet with city engineer Bill Huber this week to decide what will be done.
