Orange turned a triple play to escape from a bases-loaded jam in the sixth and the Panthers went on to defeat Canyon for the first time in seven years, 11-9, in a Century League baseball game Tuesday at Orange.

Orange led, 7-6, when shortstop C.J. Joiner caught a line drive, stepped on second and threw to first for the third out.

Jonny McDanel had three hits with two runs scored and two RBIs and Nick Smith had a single, double and triple for the Panthers (9-14, 3-11). Bryan Nock (2-4) gave up three earned runs over five innings to pick up the victory for Orange.
