Bank of America Branch Held Up

A man handed a note to a teller at a Bank of America branch and fled with an undisclosed amount of cash Wednesday afternoon, authorities said.

The holdup occurred about 3:30 p.m. at the large, busy branch in the 2400 block of Saviers Road, said FBI Special Agent Brent Robbins.

Authorities believe the same man is responsible for robbing another Bank of America branch on Oxnard Boulevard in Oxnard about two weeks ago, Robbins said.

During Wednesday’s holdup, other employees and customers in the bank didn’t know the robbery had occurred, police said.

The robber fled on foot, said Oxnard Police Sgt. Ernie Schmalhofer. Federal agents interviewed the teller and were reviewing surveillance tape.

Robbins said the robber showed his note to the teller and then took it with him before leaving the bank.

In the note, the robber claimed he had a gun, but the teller told police he never saw a weapon, police said.

The robber was described as a Latino in his early 30s, about 5 feet 10, 170 pounds with black hair, brown eyes and a pencil-thin mustache.

He was wearing a black baseball cap, Robbins said.
