Waves Score Early, Late in 4-1 Win

The Waves scored two first-half and two second-half goals to beat the Connecticut Wolves, 4-1, in an A-League soccer game Sunday at Santa Ana Stadium in front of 1,211.

Starters Nick Theslof and Sheldon Thomas scored first-half goals six minutes apart to give the Waves a 2-0 lead.

The Wolves pulled to within 2-1 on Shaun Mealis’ goal in the 78th minute, but Wave substitutes Colby Jackson and Steve Patterson scored in the final seven minutes to seal the victory.

Thomas, Patterson, Peter Lak and Shawn Saunders each had an assist for the Waves. Wave goalie Matt Reis finished with nine saves.
