Police Chief William C. Lentini joined the City Council on Tuesday in commending Douglas Dale and Douglas Strickland for pursuing and helping police capture an Anaheim man accused of trying to attack a woman in an Olinda Village shopping center.

Dale chased off the attacker and pursued him on foot along Carbon Canyon Road until he flagged down Strickland, who was driving a truck. Strickland then pursued the man and helped police locate him. The man was wearing an ankle bracelet to notify Anaheim authorities if he was more than 30 miles from his home. Police said he was armed with a razor knife.

“It’s less common for people to come forward and be accountable,” Lentini said. “It’s even less common when we have individuals who come forward and help their fellow man.”
