The opening of the city’s new skate park and roller hockey facility on Alicia Parkway should take place within weeks, although that is months later than originally planned, said city officials. The opening was first delayed until this Saturday, nearly two months past the planned opening celebration. It still is unknown whether the contractor will complete the project in time, said Kenneth Rosenfield, director of public works for the city. A grand opening celebration may be moved to July, when the entire $15-million project is complete. The project also includes four sports fields, a playground, picnic area and gazebo.
