7-Year-Old Boy Killed After Running in Front of Car
A 7-year-old boy was killed late Thursday night after he ran into the street and was hit by a car, police said.
Alejandro Banderas, of Long Beach, was struck about 8:40 p.m. at 5th Street and Golden Avenue near downtown. Doctors pronounced him dead of head and chest injuries at St. Mary Medical Center, said Sgt. Steve Filippini.
Police arrested the driver, Antonio Ruelas, 31, of Long Beach, on suspicion of driving with a suspended license. Anyone with information about the accident can call Det. Jerry Wood at (562) 570-7355.
