The Birch Street Promenade has set an extensive list of live acts and holiday festivals, beginning with the June 13 launch of the Brea Farmers Market.

Ron Cano, a consultant from the marketing firm Downtown/Main Street Visions, said his firm’s three-year plan will seek to enhance the Promenade by adding cultural touches such as holiday festivals, street performers and joint promotions with local businesses.

“The biggest thing we’re trying to do is let the public know that it’s open and to say what you see isn’t all you’re going to get,” he said.

Tom Ryder, owner of Fresca’s Mexican Grill, said the events will bring more exposure to Promenade businesses.

Cano has a $100,000 budget, paid for by the Downtown Property Owners Assn., to promote events at the Promenade and the “superblocks” on the east side of Brea Boulevard near Birch Street.

Cross-promotions with businesses are one way Cano plans to stretch those dollars and add more flair to downtown events.
