* Re “Students Pick Odd Hours Over Year-Round School,” May 29:

Ah, the ‘50s! Tilden High School, Brooklyn, N.Y. With over 5,000 students, dual sessions were the norm. Freshmen and sophomores went from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. That last hour you could hear the stomachs growling for miles away. Juniors and seniors went from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Most had jobs in the afternoon. Not a bad way to double the capacity of your facilities.
