UCI, Titans Play Exhibition Games Tonight

Share

The UC Irvine and Cal State Fullerton men’s basketball teams open their seasons tonight with exhibition games at home.

The Titans make their first appearance under Coach Donny Daniels when they face the Los Angeles Stars, a touring team of former college players, at 7 o’clock in Titan Gym. The Anteaters play South Dakota at 7 in the Bren Center.

Two Titan players will miss the exhibition because of injuries. Forward Ike Harmon, who has led the Titans in scoring and rebounding the last two seasons, has been sidelined for two weeks because of a stress fracture in his left foot. Freshman forward Keith Brooks is expected to miss two more weeks because of a back injury.

The Titans open the regular season Wednesday at home against Simon Fraser.

UCI point guard Malachi Edmond is doubtful for tonight’s game because of a groin injury. He will be replaced by Mike Hood, a transfer from Southern Idaho.

Also doubtful is junior forward Stanislav Zuzak, who has a hip injury.

The Anteaters, who finished 14-14 last season, swept a four-game exhibition tour in British Columbia this summer. Junior guard Jerry Green led the team in scoring on the Canadian trip, averaging 22 points.
