In Black and White, Yankees Are the Best
Bill Plaschke, take a refresher course in basic logic. You claim the Joe Torre Yankees are superior to the Yankees of DiMaggio and Berra, in part, because those prior Yankee teams faced fewer “foreigners” and did not play against very many African Americans. Isn’t it logical to presume that the DiMaggio and Berra Yankees would have played with and against just as many foreigners and African Americans if major league baseball had been as fully integrated in the 1930s and ‘40s as it is today?

Cancel the 2001 season and award the Yankees another World Series championship. With no player salary cap and George Steinbrenner’s unlimited budget, what’s the point?
Competition is dead without a salary cap.
