A 5-month-old Santa Ana boy died Sunday after paramedics responded to a call that the child had stopped breathing, authorities said.
An autopsy will be conducted today to determine what killed the infant, identified as Rogelio Martinez, according to a Santa Ana police spokesman.
“Investigators found no unusual circumstances in the child’s death,” he said.
According to a police report, emergency crews responded to an apartment in the 1300 block of West Walnut Street at 9:48 a.m. and found the baby appearing lifeless.
Paramedics tried to resuscitate the boy and transported him to Coastal Communities Hospital in Santa Ana, where he was pronounced dead. Police did not release the names of the parents, who also have a 2-year-old child.
