Luster’s Rape Case Postponed Again

A preliminary hearing for rape suspect Andrew Stuart Luster has been postponed for a second time.

Prosecutors were scheduled to launch their drug and sexual-assault case against Luster on Monday, but defense attorneys asked for a postponement until Jan. 17.

It was the second two-month delay sought by the defense.

Ventura County prosecutors did not oppose it.

Luster, the 36-year-old great-grandson of cosmetics magnate Max Factor, is charged with 50 counts of kidnapping and rape for allegedly sexually assaulting three women at his Mussel Shoals home.

Authorities say he rendered his victims unconscious with a date-rape drug known as GHB, then videotaped himself having sex with the women.

Luster has denied the charges.

His attorneys plan to fight the allegations at the preliminary hearing, which is expected to last about a week.

Luster remains in Ventura County Jail in lieu of $10-million bail.
