Bargain hunters will soon have a new place to shop when Goodwill Industries of Southern California opens its latest store on Saturday.

The Sherman Oaks store, with 9,000 square feet of retail space, is the nonprofit organization’s ninth San Fernando Valley outlet. Items donated at this location will be sorted and priced on site and put on the racks for sale.

“The store will reflect what’s donated to us from people in Sherman Oaks,” said spokesman Richard Guiss.

Proceeds from sales provide job training, education and job placement services for people with disabilities and others, including veterans and people in welfare-to-work programs. The Sherman Oaks store will employ 21 people, including five clients.

A ribbon-cutting ceremony will begin at 8:45 a.m. Saturday at the store, 14760 Ventura Blvd., three blocks west of Van Nuys Boulevard.

Donations may be dropped off when the store is open, from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Saturday and 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday.
