Boy, 5, Struck by Bullet After Glendale Football Game
A 5-year-old boy was struck by a bullet after a football game at Glendale High School on Friday night, but police said the injury was so minor that the boy’s father was able to remove the bullet with his hand.
Police believe the bullet was one of several rounds that may have been fired up to a half-mile away.
“It went through his jacket and hit him in the arm,” Glendale Police Sgt. Bill Halvorsen said. “His father looked at it, and pulled the bullet right out.”
The boy was shot in the arm while accompanied by his father as they left the Glendale High stadium at 1440 E. Broadway about 9:45 p.m., Sgt. Fran Judge of the Glendale Police Department said.
Police said the child was taken to Glendale Adventist Medical Center largely as a precaution.
The bullet was believed to have originated from six rounds fired at Cedar Street and California Avenue, several blocks northwest of the stadium, Judge said.
No arrests had been made in the shooting late Friday, Judge said.
The game being played was between Glendale and Crescenta Valley High School.
