Devils’ Niedermayer, Arnott End Holdouts

Defenseman Scott Niedermayer and center Jason Arnott ended season-long holdouts Sunday and agreed to contracts with the Stanley Cup champion New Jersey Devils.

Devils’ General Manager Lou Lamoriello described the deals as multiyear, but he did not disclose details. ESPN reported that Niedermayer signed a four-year, $16 million contract and Arnott agreed to a two-year, $5.1-million guaranteed deal.

Arnott and Niedermayer will take physicals today and are expected to practice with the team. They will accompany the team for a road trip which starts Wednesday against the Mighty Ducks and continues Thursday against the Kings at Staples Center.

Vancouver 6, Columbus 1--Markus Naslund and Peter Schaefer each scored two goals, and Bob Essensa made 28 saves in the Canucks’ win at at Columbus, Ohio.

Vancouver led, 2-1, before scoring three times in a three-minute span in the third period. The Blue Jackets have lost two in a row.
