A 48-year-old man who was found in a burning vacant building in Montecito Heights died Wednesday morning at a hospital, authorities said.
Firefighters responded to a fire at about 5 a.m. in a small commercial building at 4445 Huntington Drive South, said Bob Collis, city Fire Department spokesman. The man was found at the scene by firefighters and taken to County-USC Medical Center, where he died, Collis said.
The building was vacant but it was unknown what the man was doing there or whether he was a squatter, Collis said. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
